Help!...got several Maxell 10.5" metal reels that I want to remove the identification labels on but am afraid I will mar the aluminum surface. Any suggestions on a way to remove these? They are REALLY stuck on there! :tears:

Thanks in advance for your responses.

The secret to using naptha is to soak the label, not just try to brush it on. Once the label is soaked, the adhesive underneath will be gummy. You can lift off the label at this point. But you will need to use more naptha and flood the area. Then take your paper towels and wipe the glue up. Naptha is a solvent for most label adhesives, but it is very mild, so don't expect to brush naptha over the label and have the label come away and bring all the glue with it.

First - I would move the tape to another reel. Second - get a hair dryer and heat it up. Third - if needed - chemical, ronsonol, goo-gone etc.
