Not much money, but looks fun to play with as a pre. I have volume control on the cd player...so here's the newest toy...yah I could have waited for the auction to end and place a snipe bid, but I seem to miss them everytime on these and also lose, so I went for the bin.

This is a fun little toy. It was badged under several companies; Calrad, Olson, GE, Fisher to name a few. I have a Calrad I've been meaning to reverse engineer so I could build a custom version with newer parts. That and I need a cheap phono pre for my SET.

Hey how do you think it will work as a pre-amp/tube buffer for the cd player. I own a McIntosh MCD7007 with a variable output (volume control)?

Probably too much gain for a CD. It's meant to use for a phono or tape head preamp... LOWWW level signals.

Any chance I could modify the tape input to accomodate a cd player? I'm somewhat electrically challenged, but not bad with a soldering iron.
