Not sure that there was anything special about it, but it was an early model, serial in the 7,000 range. The sound was unusually nice. As a matter of fact, I had a Beatles CD playing through it and my Pioneer CS-99As and I had to repeat parts because I could not believe what I was hearing. It sounded like the guitars were actually connected to the receiver. The CS-99As are very mid happy, so this might have had somethig to do with it. Here it is stacked on top of my 2230. IMO, I let it go for too lilttle!

2270

I picked up my first 2270 about two or three months ago and even though I've had some minor problems with it, I gotta admit it's definitely one of the better-sounding Marantz receivers out there. I presently have 10 Marantz receivers, 8 of which are working, and the 2270 and 2245 are my favorites.

It's always tough letting something like that go. But looks like you still have a good selection of Marantz. Sell one of the 9090s and try a Pioneer!
