I wish my "Far Field" sounded like my "Near Field"

By the time we’re done, the poor OP is gonna end up with a variation of this.

(not that it would be a bad thing though)

Hmmmm the mesh needs more damping.

Whats the definition of the far field. Where the indirect reverberant sound energy equals or surpasses the intensity of the direct sound energy. So unless the reverberant sound energy is reduced to increase the length in distance of the direct sound there is never any chance to extend the near field. So you either pad your room on all surfaces or you change from a point source speaker to a horn or line array based speaker system. Horns are far cheaper and you will still have to soften the room to your taste but the power required will be a lot less. Now I know there are losts of objections to horns, but if balanced properly thru the spectrum to your tastes you might be pleasantly surprised.

UPDATE: I toed the speakers in a bit and the imaging increased substantially! More intense toeing in made things worse so I backed the angle off to about 165 degrees. I don't think this set up is optimized yet, but just that little change did a lot. Live and learn!
