I will be attempting to pick these up tonight - I've seen tweeters that look similar but I can't find any that are exactly the same -for the price the horns alone make them worth picking up

Tweeter is Gauss 1502. A very good tweeter.

I was supposed to pick up tonight - the seller called me about 50 minutes into my 1.5hour trip and said they couldn't meet tonight... I am hoping that I still get them but it's looking grim...

Right on the money - I was able to pick these up tonight - A very interesting medley of parts

Pair of Gauss 1502 tweeters
Pair of Pioneer PH901 horns
Pair of JBL 2425J horn drivers
Pair of EV 15B ver II woofers
Pair of Altec n1209-8a crossovers
Heavy duty Baltic birch cabs - hooks all over the place like they were hung at a club

I was told that these were picked up on trash day and were saved from being crushed.

The Gauss 1502's are definitely cool - DAMN these things are friggen huuuuge - Seriously these tweeters are about the same size and weight as the JBL horn drivers!

I had a pair of the Gauss 4080's a while ago - It was the largest horn driver that I've seen -

Anyways - Does anyone know what these pioneer horns were used in? They are absolutely gorgeous - They have clips attached to the front of the horn so I am assuming that they also had a lense assembly at one time but the build quality of these horns is very very nice.

That's one of the biggest tweeters I have ever seen. Even bigger than the alnico Super 3. What is that? Not a piezo-type, right? Just a round horn driver? When it comes to tweeters, beef always seems to be a good sign.

Used in the Gauss/Optonica CP 3830 and the Gauss 7480 studio monitors. Very rare JBL and Altec stompers.

Very nice save indeed... grats on the salvage.

Thanks!

I posted a few comparison pics with a JBL 075 (really a 075-22) - The gauss "tweeters" are like 6.5" in diameter and 5.5" deep... the 075 looks like a baby next to them

Kudos to you!!!
:thmbsp:

They cleaned up pretty nice

I had seen these on the internet a number of years ago - Definitely cool and I wouldn't turn down a pair if they were offered to me :D

I have a project in mind that may work out pretty well -

A while back I bought a pair of JBL L45 Flair's that had the JBL S-8 upgrade - The original S-8 Components have long gone but I was looking for a nice set of 075'or 077's to do a time aligned setup with a pair of JBL 2235's that I have on the shelf with the L45 cabs and I was going to pick up another set of 375's and blah blah blah it was going to cost me a small fortune.

Maybe I will look into building a Gauss frakenspeaker - I've had the 4080's in the past and I found them to be very nice for the money - I know gauss makes an alnico version that is comparable to the JBL 375
