Input impedance. . .

Looking at the 402 as the likely choice for my next amplifier, I see some spec's that I have a question about.

When an amplifier's input impedance is 10,000 - 20,000 ohms, does this mean that it will or will not be a very good choice to mate with a passive, or drive with a DAC that has volume control?

Sorry if that's a lame question, but I don't know much about input impedance, only that the 402 seems to be much lower than other amplifiers in my search.

Thanks,

H

A good rule of thumb is drive with a 10 to 1 or better ratio for least noise, best transfer with least loss, and best sound. 1,000 ohm source should see at least 10,000 or more at the receiving end.
