Does anyone have one online? I'm trying to understand some of the switches on the rear, like extended versus normal bass, without a Servo box installed. I'm also curious about recommended placement and toe-in angle. Thanks!

Infinity-Classics.de is your friend...!!! Always look there 1st!

No Manual, but here's the Tech Manual.

As to settings; I have no idea! :D Delta's are beyond me! :sigh: On my Wish-List!

    This review 'might' help:

Sorry about the poor quality. If I had know then, that the scan would be posted on-line, I'd have found a better scanner. Also, the review is from High Performance Review, and not Stereophile. HPR was one of my favorite magazines back then...

Thanks for the links! I'm still curious about that extended/normal switch.

From the late great Bobby Shred, here's a page with a link to the manual. Just scroll down to the 'naked' servo crossover picture. The Manual can be found just below the picture.

    Gamma Manual:

Here's the direct link to the Manual'S zip file.

It looks like pg. 19 and 20, of the Manual, discuss the Extended/Normal switch. Extended is recommended if using a high-current bass amp, that doesn't wimp out under load. Normal, if you're not sure if your bass amp is up to snuff!

    Good Luck!

    Oh yea, :worthless

:banana:Perfect! That's just what I was looking for, but I overlooked the website link. I actually just got the speakers yesterday, and have been cleaning them up a bit and testing them. They're my first EMIT equipped speakers! :-D They're interestingly modified by the previous owner, which sounds horrible, but actually sounds very good. Kinda hard to describe, but the bass section has been expanded in the front (very nicely done however, with black laminate) and the woofers have been replaced (gasp! I know) with high quality units of undetermined manufacturers. I was alarmed at first, but they're really sounding good. Apparently the person knew what they were doing. I assume the original woofers were destroyed. Anyhow, I'll post a thread with pics soon. I have some reading and listening to do! :thmbsp:

I'm truly glad that you like your Fraken-Delta's! :music: Even after being modified, I'd have bought them too!:drool: Curious though, I wonder what woofers the previous owner used? :scratch2: If you get a chance, to crack open a bass cabinet, let us know.

I guess the main downside to the speakers being modified, is that your Delta's can't be upgraded to Gamma status, with the servo unit. That's a shame. But, if they're sounding good as-is, no worries! :D

Thanks! There are level controls for all four planar drivers on the rear, making setup somewhat intimating. I have them in the middle for now. I'm going hook them up to a big Carver amp soon. They sound pretty good with my big Marantz 2330B 130W receiver!

Be VERY careful NOT to crank up the volume using that Marantz. It is NOT high-current enough to drive the...

Oh, wait a sec! You said the woofers were replaced? Maybe it'll be okay. It's the power-sucking Watkins woofers that drive amps into clipping, which fries the EMITs on vintage Infinities. Other woofers probably won't do that, so you may be okay. Could be a "blessing in disguise".

Congratulations on scoring a GREAT pair of speakers (assuming the woofer replacements aren't too detrimental to overall sound). I got my first pair of Gammas just recently, too (posted about it here).

Even with the replacement woofers, I'd have gone for those, too. You can still buy Watkins woofers directly from Bill Watkins and his son, if you want to restore them to as-original condition. (Assuming, of course, that the cabinet mods are reversible.) The servo-controller box is harder to find, but you might get one of those, too. I was lucky to get one fairly quickly in the local market, that a guy with Betas decided he didn't want/need, since he already had one with his other set of Betas(!). Or maybe you'll decide the speakers are good enough as-is, with the mods the guy made. Either way is good as long as you're happy.

The Gamma woofers are not Watkins, but they a difficult drive because the crossover is close to a dead short at some frequencies, much like the Kappa9.

The linked Gamma Owners Manual is corrupt. Does anyone who downloaded it when it was okay have a current link? UPDATE: false alarm. I found a copy.
