Is there a vintage CD player thread?

First..if this is the wrong forum, please feel free to relocate this thread

Looking to get a solid early cd player that doesn't have a "digital sound" (preferably silver face or wood cabinet) to go with my current vintage stuff and have not had much luck.

I know that there is the Pioneer D70 that is silver and gold :yuck:
and that the Carver 490 is considered to be pretty good (but it is black...but has a tube pre!

What is out there that is older and decently priced? Which models should I consider that are at least mid-fi if not hi-fi?

Maybe we could start a thread with pics? :thmbsp: OR :thumbsdn:

Jvc

I have used a JVC XL-Z1050TN as a transport, although it makes a very nice CD player. Uses theri K2 chip technology, and is a fine exmaple of what the multi-bit designs are capable of. They were a high end unit in the early 90's, sold for around 800. Still command a decent price, although can be had for between 150 and 250, depending on condition. JVC isnt silver though, more of a charcoal? or I have heard some people call it champagne. Anyways, its a good cd player. Unfortunately mine is just taking up space in my rack since I have been listening to a modified Squeezebox along with my DAC.
