I also got a ticket for parking my motorcycle on the (very wide) sidewalk in front of our house; which is allowed here in Germany.
I wrote polite letter to the city and told them that my motorcycle has been parked on the exact same spot for the last 30 years.

I never payed the ticket, and never heard from them again
