iTunes asks for Authorization constantly

Every time I plug in my iPod iTunes pops up with the message that I'm not authorized to play my purchased tunes.

I go ahead and put in my password and then it tells me I'm already authorized!
If I don't sign in some of my purchased stuff disappears from my iPod.

Before long I get the message that I've authorized 5 out of 5 computers even though I only have one set up with iTunes.

Any one else had this problem and know what the cure is?
Do I need to empty out my "Purchased" folder?

Will that remove the tunes and TV Shows from my library?

Use Apple's online tech support. They used to have a free chat support service, probably still do. I used the chat help once for a problem that was entirely my own fault. They were very helpful and ended up giving me a three song credit just because. I was very friendly and non-confrontational and thanked them profusely for helping me, that might be part of why the gave me the credit. I encourage you to try them before fooling around with advice you might get elsewhere.

I'll give it a try.

I'm very Tech Support Phobic after years of dealing with Verizon, people seem to think Apple is pretty good though so I'll give it a shot.
