I just got offered a set of JBL L150's millenium speakers, an even trade for my klipsch quartets, the woofers have been reconed in the jbl's so the woofer is not white like it should, but have been reconed by a jbl specialist, they are the original magnet and basket assembly wich weighs more than 10 lbs, now there black cones rather than white, they are not quite as efficient as the quartets, but the bass is incredible in the jbl L150's, I just need advice from you guys--is this a good trade? i love both so it's a hard decision, so give me some input, thanx in advance!:scratch2: the bird

Tough choice! Which sounds better to you? You're going to be the one listening to them all the time. Brad

Anyone else ?

Anyone else have an opinion? It's good to know they still have white cones available, these are black cones--so should i Not trade?, also makes me wonder where they were done at! i'll have to ask some questions before i make the trade! so anyone still think it's a good trade, or not?:scratch2: the bird

The L-series line from the late 1970's to the 1980's was of a very high quality. The recone could very well be black. Ask for information on who did it and when? I own a pair of L300 Summit from that era and a pair of L100t3. Your model sold for $1200 a pair for the L150. Cost is not the main reason to buy them. It is how they sound to your ears when you audition them. If it was me I would swap if they are in reasonable shape and they sound good. I would not care one bit what color they were reconed in be it white or black as long as it was done right. Good luck! John

Decided to keep the quartets!

I did a side by side comparison set in the corners, and a&b them, the jbl's had very deep bass slam, mids sound very good, and the highs were good, then the klipsch, the bass was adequet, and the mids sounded better than the jbl,s, and the highs are sweet, and took less power to drive, so i put them in the corners about 3-1/2 feet from the back wall and 3 feet from the side wall, and boom--got more bass, i decided to keep the klipsch quartets, just because they are much easier to drive than the jbl's, and plus the jbl's weigh 80 lbs--to much for my back to handle, the quartets are heavy too, but i like em, but may regret passing on the well made jbl's!:music: the bird
