    Jon Hiseman passed away aged 73. He was one of my ultimate music heroes.

    The best Jazz drummers ever:

    Alphonse Mouzon

    Billy Cobham

    @exhippy

    Thank you for your contributions on this memorial thread. Thanks for the videos, exhippy!

    It's been about 24 hours now that I learned about his death. I did not mourn for an artist that execessively since Frank passed away. I had seen Jon four or five times on stage and these moments were amongst the most intensive moments in my life regarding music.

    Please check youtube - the 2011 drum solo in Austria. It is breathtaking as most of his solos, maybe this one even a bit more since he had already been 67 years old back then!!!

    I had the privilege of interviewing Mr. Hiseman in Zlin, Czech Republic around 1999. After the interview I mentioned this recording from Prague 1967 which I had taped off Czech TV. I later sent him a copy and he appreciated the tape. RIP.

    I remember seeing that solo before. In the middle wher his playing rolls on the snare and the kick drum is slow. Then he speeds up the kick while slowing the snare until they are completely reversed in speed. To drums, subtle yet Amazing! RIP
