It doesn't disable the controls on my iPod Touch, latest gen or my iPod Nano, also latest gen.
It is pretty useless with the Touch, the remote is no good when the touch is docked. The remote works well with the Nano.. There was a bit of a learning curve, you have to be at the menu to switch songs. Just hitting FF or channel up while the song is playing will just ff the song, not skip to the next. I can control volume, pause/play, change tracks and turn it on and off with the Nano. The only function it seems to have with the touch is pause/play and that is spotty.
