i have 9600 and a kt -8300. Considering a ka-9100. Does it sound better than 9600? Better build quality??

I have both a KA-9100 and a KR-9600, both restored by me. Build quality in my opinion is the same - both from the same approx time period, Compared to later
Kenwoods, the build quality is excellent. If I walked into a room blindfolded I couldn't tell you which one was playing. If I were forced to keep only one (the horror!) it would be the KR-9600. because of the power. Excellent tuner as well. But the power, Oh the power.

+1 with gort69. Similar build, similar sonics. The 9600 will stand to improve greatly with a rebuild, the 9100 as well but maybe to a slightly lesser degree. I wouldn't judge either too harshly before some work was done on them.

Love my 9600 - 39 years old and still going strong! I think I remember comparing tuner specs for the 9600 and they were identical to the excellent 8300.
