Kappa 9 Refoam Question

Hi Guys,
I bought a Power Amp of a Guy in my town, and he has a pair of Kappa 9's and I gotta tell you...... WOW!! they are the best speakers I have ever heard.
Anyway the foam on the 12" drivers are in need of refoaming.
I offered to do the job for him (as part of the payment for the amp)
Any tricks or tips you guys can point out to me before I start refoaming the woofers?
I have refoamed about 25 or so woofers so far but never done a pair of these plastic cone woofers before.

Cheers!

Kappa 9s are amazing. Those cones should be made of IMG (injection molded graphite). I'm looking to have mine redone, so I've no advice, but I'm looking for any info anyone has. Thanks!

My Kappa 7 woofs too. I have the glue and surrounds but any other tips would be appreciated from the speaker guru.

FWIW The cones will not give and snap back like poly cones. Care needs to be taken when handling them.

:lurk:

Update on how the refoam is going:
I have now cleaned all the old glue and gunk off the baskets and cones on all 4 woofers, so next is to cut the dustcaps open shim the voicecoils and glue the surrounds to the cones.
Will keep you posted on how it goes.
I like these winter projects. :thmbsp:

Cheers!
