I had a pair of KL-333s a couple years ago. They sounded fine, but nothing spectacular. Very clean and clear sound, which I kind of associate with kenwood's other components; bass was present but kind of weak. Recapping helped, although when I took them apart I was amazed to see how small the driver magnets were. There was very little damping inside as well. I recapped, added some insulation, and the sound improved. Ultimately moved on to other things.
A very respectable little speaker, but can't hold a candle to something like a KLH 6 or EPI 100; I've always wanted to hear the "big" Kenwood speakers - love the look of the grilles!
$29 isn't bad to try them out; that's about what mine cost, so no loss.
