KT120/150 SE UL Build

    On a PP amp, the KT120 offers much better bass then the KT88. Mids and highs are the same.
    That's my experience with 2 different PP amps, but not SE amps.

    Yup - less stress at the top end as well using the KT120 in an amp designed for a KT88 as you're not working the tubes all that hard and you're still in the sweet spot for efficient operation. I like em.

    PS ... not all KT88's are created equal. I've also got a set of TAD KT88str's here that can really kick it on the bottom. They're replicas of the old and well regarded British MOV design - heavy glass 'n evarthang ...

    And worth repeating - DO make sure your iron can handle the KT120 as there is a significantly higher draw to fire them.

    Oh. Don't know about the KT150 as an option. I've heard there can be sonic improvements, but am not willing to pay the price to experiment here, what with being a cheap bastid and all. The KT120 on the other hand, is very competitively priced with the better KT88's.
