Thoughts about this receiver. Can anyone confirm its rebagged of setton or luxman. How is the sound? Stong?warm?.

I have one and like it a lot. Plenty of power and it's one of the most handsome receivers no doubt. The one thing I don't like is that the on/off selector is integrated with the speaker selector control (A & B) etc. and they are prone to fail. Mine still works though.

If it's working properly it's worth the $50. JMO.
If it's a local pickup with no shipping costs involved, even better.

Yeah the switch is something i have never have had in a receiver. But i think i am going to give it a run .

+1 to what Bob said. Very good sounding and seems more powerful than its 55wpc rating. Mine suffered a power switch problem with a nylon grommet that centers the (long) shaft from the knob back to the actual switch. The grommet split, so I replaced it with a brass bushing. Other than that, it was a very nice receiver. The one I had was an LR-5555A if that makes any difference and was made by Luxman AFAIK.

The LR-9090 has the same switch and it's a known weakness. If it's currently working I wouldn't let that scare you.
And it most likely puts out more than it's rated 55 wpc.

On the topic of rebadged and Lafayettes

This Viking receiver (Viking appears to have been sold in Canada), is a rebadged LR-5555 though the original OEM is not known to me.

The Lafayette LR-9090 is no doubt made by the same OEM as the Setton
RS-660. Scroll way down the page for their comparison and pictures.
