Latest addition to the collection...Marantz 3250B preamp

First piece of Marantz gear.

Found it at a thrift shop for $8.

I grabed it because it looked cool, the name Marantz, it is complete and cosmetically good.

I plan to pair it with a Hafler 220.

I have yet to fire it up. That will come next week.

So, did I find a gem or is this a problematic turd?

Anything I need to know about it?

Sweet grab! I think that's the pre in the 1180DC integrated. Sounds good in that amp.

People have mixed feelings about the 3250/3250B because of the way the boards are "joined" together, personally, it is one of my favorites! I have 2 3250B's and 2 3250's, love the variable loudness control, I have cleaned and recapped each and have had no issues with any of them. The 3250's are paired with the 170dc amp and the 3250B's are mated with SM-7's. I think you will be pleased. Rich

This is a good preamp, the phono stage will do moving coil carts.

But let me make sure I understand....you got a Marantz 3250b for $8?! Eight Dollars?! Like 800 pennies?!

My God...that preamp (I have one) goes for $500-900 on eBay!

I have since moved on however.
