Learned a new trick for removing old grills

This might be an old topic but I don't feel like searching the forum :) This is for old stubborn velcro'd grills.

Typically I use a wide spackle or putty knife, but today I couldn't find it. So I took a thicker paper clip - about 22 gauge - bent the clip about half an inch down at a 90 degree angle. Insert between grill and frame, turn the clip so it pulls from behind of the grill, and gently pry until you can slip a finger under. Easiest grill to come off, ever.

Need more leverage? Use more paper clips.

I did about the same thing a few years ago.
Lady had some in wall speakers with perforated (very small holes) metal grilles on the speakers.
Used a paper clip bent with a "U" on the end and carefully pulled the grilles off. Not sure but I may have had to insert the paper clip in more than one part of the grille, loosen one area, then loosen another.

Some grills are a lot more stubborn. I took a stainless piece from a
windshield wiper blade, bent the last 1/4" or so and made a great hook.
