leptoglossus occidentalis...

Always check for noninflammable propellant when purchasing these, otherwise, you may be filling the space with propane plus insecticide. Do a websearch on the possible undesirable results.
Thank you for the warning, but they were bought from a specialist pest control company. The phrase 'smoke bomb' is a bit fanciful, there is no propellant or explosive effect, they just smoulder slowly and produce quite a lot of smoke. The usage instructions contain suitable warnings and give instructions on any precautions required when using them. I used these in my loft space, one of the certified and expected uses of the product. I followed the instructions and placed them in a metal tray and was able to close the loft 'hatch' thus sealing in the flies and the smoke, which I left for 3 hours before taking a peek to check on results. The smoke clears quite quickly and there is no residual effect from the insecticide - just a lot of dead flies. :)

The stink bugs I know are a bit shorter in size.

However - the illegal aliens also stink when I touch them in order to remove them.

We get stink bugs, haven't seen one in a while. You can't crush them or they really smell! Just get some tissue or toilet paper and scoop them up, don't crush them, flush them down the toilet!

a few years back near hagerstown md at our townhouse, in the early fall we would use a shop vac hangup to vacuum them DAILY by the 100's. then thanks to 2 record breaking cold winters back to back that seemed to clip them, incidence was way down last year

A half dozen Western Conifer Seed Bugs today in our house. Fortunately they are so lethargic that you just can grab them and throw them out of the window. I hope that this invasion will stop when it gets really cold outside.
