Looking for suggestions on headphones.

Old Guys Rule!!!
What a lucky guy I am! My wife decided she really likes my Bose headphones, so she has taken them over from me. Then she suggested that we need to get another pair for me. :music: Cool, because I've heard there are a lot of better sounding phones for less than the price of the Bose.
I'm hoping to get some suggestions for noise canceling phones for less than $300. I like the noise canceling since I travel by air quite a bit.
Any ideas???
Thanks.
Mike

just don't tell them you bought bose...

second the Head-Fi nod,
I have a pair of Sony MDR-V900's that have been a good, dependable, foldable/packable and comfortable headphone that has outlasted the rest around here.

I see that they can be purchased for $39.99 on ebay by searching for SONY MDR-V900, a much better deal than their $200 MSRP

While not the utmost authority in Hi-Fi these headphones really shine for the $45 price tag currently attached.

I've bought several pairs of both Sony and JBL NC headphones and with some of the guys at work, have compared them to the B**e "cans." We finally concluded that there was no difference in the effectiveness of the noise cancellation and the sound quality was a wash.

However, YMMV.

Grado labs headphones, although not noise canceling (at all) they are by far the best value of headphones I've heard of yet.

I've got a pair of Audio Technica noise-canceling headphones that I love. Great for air travel and mowing the yard.

Grado cans are very good, although I favor Sennheiser myself. Of course we're speaking of regular (non-NC) headphones. It's an awful lot like loudspeakers, in that it often comes down to personal preferences.

Best Regards,
TerryO
