So I was looking at Fleebay last week and 2 R-117's showed up...I was at the Right Time looking around as to 1min into the listings with Buy-It-Now...:D

1st R-117 for 125 Buy-It-Now. Right channel not working.
2nd R-117 for 100 Buy-It-Now. Not powering on.

1st R-117 the Right channel Power Board Molex cable not attached. The Outputs had been replaced...Looking at the board some resistors burnt.

2nd R-117 the Main fuse is blowing...Tracked it down to Left Power Board starts to burn a resistor. So I remove the Left PB Molex cable, install a New fuse and :music: from Right Channel.

The Pictures are from the 1st R-117...Took the 2nd unit Right Channel PB and put into the 1st R-117.....A nice DeoxIT on the switches, Adjust Idle Current and ALL is Working!!!!

Since I have a R-117(Mint) and now a 2nd R-117...The other R-117 is now a Parts Unit.

For the price of the Both listings..The was a no brainer to take a chance.

Putting together a Cap list....

What are the output transistors identification #....I'm tackling mine right after my sansui 919 restoration

Luxman R-117

I have 2, one original and one restored.....If there is a better receiver I would like to know what it is......They are a little weak on tape with my Nak Dragon but more than outplay my Pioneer and Sansui receivers.........

Two R-117s is good.Out of around thirty receivers I have owned the R-117 is the best sounding.

I have 2, one original and one restored.....If there is a better receiver I would like to know what it is......They are a little weak on tape with my Nak Dragon but more than outplay my Pioneer and Sansui receivers.........

The R-117 is a Very Very Nice sounding unit!!!!

What I have current that is on the same playing field and then some:

Sony STR-GX10ES sound is were this shines. Bass is Lush and Deep with the Tuner that is on Par that of Sony XDR-F1HD..the GX10ES tuner is that Good: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=421105

Luxman LV-109: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=492378
Luxman LE-109: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=542849

The LV-109 is above the R-117 in Sound and Modular Component Board level. Add the LE-109 Phone Amp and I can put the R-117 in the closet.

Hey...It's a Luxman  Let's see how the R-117 sounds after the Recap. Since I like using ELNA SILMIC II..The R-117 is using some 100v-160v caps and Space is tight(some values of ELNA SILMIC II are too tall). Nichicon PW for this with Nichicon FG in Tuner, CPU PC Board and Panasonic FR in Power Supply areas...Very Low ESR.

I have removed the R-117 parts unit boards and starting the Cap list...Not going by the SM as caps change and sometimes is missed in the SM....I also go by what I pull from the Board.

I'll be following this forum closely,,,,thanks for the transistor list, I do have a schematic but it's in terrible condition.

I will update Each Board with my Cap list.

C202 47uf/10V
C204 0.1uf/50V

C202 is under the Display. The display can be lifted up (Tape on both ends) to remove cap. I would then install cap on other side of Board.
