The Infinitys are a nominal 4-ohm impedance speakers that can dip to 2-ohms, and have a reputation as amp-killers. I generally listen to music at moderate volumes since my listening position is approximately10-feet from the speakers, and anything much louder gets overwhelming. I am concerned about the 2100 not having any sort of protective circuit similar to the 4100's power guard, but I don't know if that should be a concern at the volumes that I typically listed at. I did read an old posting on another AK forum in which the poster indicated that the Infinitys would not be a problem for any transistorized amp except McIntosh. The poster did not elaborate.
Should I be concerned, and if there is no concern, which amplifier would be a better fit with the speakers?
Thanks
