    Erm...please do so.

Frannie, while your “IT passion” is admirable, thus far you have added absolutely nothing to this thread; with the exception of some off the cuff and unfounded knee-jerk insults to other AK members and 3rd party IT folk. So far, all we’ve seen from you here is a rant with completely unnecessary brow beating of innocent messengers with yelled incendiary accusations.

If this sort of rhetoric is all you have to offer here (as a well seasoned IT pro)…rather than some valid diagnostics and/or suggestions for Luther and the recently hired guns to combat this present AK issue, then from one IT pro to another, please do holster your sanctimonious pistols. At the very least, let’s refrain from attacking messengers and just move on. Clearly, AK is indeed having some serious issues combating an external invasion of sorts.

Should you have something of real value to advance the effort, we’re all ears.

    Cheers and due respect,
    David

Using AK is by no means a requirement in your life. Feel free to find another audio forum that you feel more comfortable and safe perusing. That said, I have been a member since 2005 and have yet to experience any of the problems you have described. I hope you get this sorted out soon. Cheers!

Its just the Irony that no one sees.

An IT organization professed as "Experts" had a trojan keylogger some how installed on a PC under their care is giving security advice.

I mean even the MOST rudementary antivirus and even the most simple securing should stop that. Yet this IT "Pro" knows that a server somewhere he has never been to , that he has zero clue how its setup , or zero clue what software its running is the root cause because of oh yah.

    He has Certifications.

If you can't see how WRONG that is I can't help any of you.

I did try to help but got shouted down because apparently people seem to WANT AK's server to be the problem.

I think the staff here deserves better than to be compared to some faceless incompetent organization somewhere else.

This is a 'stand out' comment for me - when people get malware or virus infections, it's always AK's fault, "only happens on AK" did anyone ever think it's because they are on here a lot - so it just seems that way?

I've been a member here for 11 years and have never, ever, got any kind of infection here or from anywhere actually - but then I am some kind of an IT professional (retired). (and as for 'certifications' they aren't worth squat, unless you really know what you are doing).

Me either. But I make an attempt (Like Yourself) to secure my PC.

Everyone else wants to avoid that by blaming something else.

Well as I have stated. Enjoy the malware , empty bank accounts , maxed credit cards and porn redirects.

And, it is possible to have AV 'protection' and still have your OS infected because the OS patching level isn't being kept up to date. OS patching has a high administrative overhead and is often overlooked, misunderstood or mishandled. There was an OS vulnerability not so long ago which was specifically targeted by Keylogger malware and was installed, if your OS wasn't patched, no matter where on the Internet you browsed.

Security is a layered approach. You need to stay reasonably on top of updates.

But large organizations get compromised all the time because usually budget constraints , uncaring staff or what not allows things to lapse.

Most every large scale hack seen has a reason. And that reason usually is something along the lines of

    1. We can't upgrade from obsolete such and such because it will break everything

    2. We don't have money to upgrade from obsolete such and such

    3. We don't have resources to secure all of this

    4. We have too many managers and not enough people doing work

The staff here cares and is dealing with the issue. I know it. I don't know or even give a damn about someone , someplace with who knows what expertise.

We could use a few less threads like this (This must be number 10 each with some incendiary title which I suppose is OK according to the people calling me out of line)

@Decibel_116, I for one wouldn't mind the opportunity to have quick chat with Chad. Clearly some new vectors at play here and I'd very much like to understand the scenario he saw. I've no relation to the folks who run AK.

Yes, the old "we're an (insert business here) Company not an IT Company, we haven't got the time or money to keep up with all these updates...." argument. :)

    Hello,

I would like to ask Chad a few things also.

How a keystroke logger got installed in the first place

What is the name of this keystroke logger

How does he know that it was in fact installed via viewing a AK site

What sort of forensic analysis was performed.

So far we got I have certifications trust me I know.

    Hello,

Thinking about this some more from a personal point of view.

There is certainly an issue with AK and with some certainty its via the AD networks.

Stopping this issue usually involves turning off/controlling Java Script , installing a browser plugin to block AD's and simple browser lockdown.

What is not noticed is that threads like this become public record and reflect negatively on the AK community. I happen to be a member of said community and perhaps take some offense at this. But its a public smearing of AK , the staff who run this place and the community as a whole.

So what would I suggest. Take the one minute and secure things , privately message anything to the staff you see and stop it with inflammatory threads like this because they rarely help long term.

I know its well meaning on everyone's part. But unless you absolutely know how to fix this issue perhaps some discretion would go a longer way towards finding the solution.

    Francesca,

Interesting you should mention that 'secure it' thing. I was having the issue on an iPad, but not on my phone. Did not make sense as I had ADP on both. Turns out I had the APP on the iPad but never got it turned on. Did that the other day and have not seen the Chaturbate warning since.

I appreciate your passion, input and common sense. Have a great Sunday.

    Thanks,

Like I said before, Chad indicated to me he would be willing to discuss this. PM me a phone number, and I will give it to him tomorrow. I have some early morning meetings, but I will get it to him before lunch.

For the record, I never called anyone out here. I only reported what happened to me. There have been some over reactions to what I posted. I am not trying to do anything but be helpful. As has been reported on this thread, I was not the only one this exact thing happened to. If there is no issue found in the long run, then great.

    Peace

Are you running a ad block app?

I haven't a problem since adding one years ago.

Just now. Home, and using my MacPro.
I have 3 browser windows open in Safari - Gmail, Linked in and AK ...
I was doing a reply in GMail, and when I swung back to AK - I see I now have a 4th window.
Switch to that and it had a nasty noise and blinking red "ALERT - VIRUS ALERT" in that new window
Of course, I have no application running that generates such a screen,
its just a troll trying to get me to do something, so I killed the window.
    I'll restart the browser shortly.

It just happened again. I attempted to put a comment in a D&S thread. As soon as I clicked to put the cursor in the comment box, I was redirected to something like safesoftwaresite.com or similar. It directed me to update my Flash player but it obviously wasn't from Adobe. I did the ctl, alt, del to get out.
