Marantz 4140 quad and subwoofer connections

Looking for some help from the community....I have been googling for days now and also trying to search the forum, trying to figure out if it is possible to connect a subwoofer to my Marantz quad. I have a Polk PSW404 sub that I want to experiment with because I am running new KEF LS50's and am looking for better bass.

I use to have this connected to a Yamaha CR1020 through the preout. With the Marantz, there are 2 preouts and if one side of it is unconnected, the amp doesn't give off sound.

Any suggestions please?

You can use a rca "y" connector also called a "piggy back" rca to jump the pre out to amp in with the piggy back side on the pre out. Then tie another regular rca into the preout piggy back and try to plug into your sub. That way you have preout to sub but also at same time jumping preout to amp in so you onboard amp gets the audio signal as well.
Basically splitting your preout. One going to amp and other going to whatever else you want--maybe a sub or another amp etc.
