Marantz 6300 tone arm lift

Ok, baffled! Everything I read from looking at schematics, discussions on this forum, all advise that the tone arm lift can be pulled out for cleaning and lubrication to make it rise and lower slowly.
I've taken the set screws COMPLETELY out... nope, still wont come out. I've taken the nut off the bottom of the lifting mech and without removing the tone arm...nope that wont work either.
I've added pictures of the mechanism as I see it and it does NOT match what the service manual shows.
Looking for guidance from this forum of awesomeness.

I've done it when I accidentally cleaned the dampening oil (thank god for a local hobby shop that's still open). I'm pretty sure it's the two screws in your first picture. Remove the top one and loosen the bottom one and it will fall out.

This is a totally different issue but related to the tone arm. I have a 6100 and the tone arm lifter is not lifting the tone arm high enough. Do you know how to adjust it to go higher? Thanks.
