is there a differences between CD-40 vs. CD-40 MKII? Have a chance to get one, not sure which one to get and can’t find any detail information on either model.

it seems that there is very little information about the differences between the CD40 and the CD40 MKII
The MKII seems to have a different Transport Assembly, both models are designed around the highly regarded TDA1541 DAC. You would need to locate the Service Manuals for both model if you want to detail out all of the differences
The key to having vintage CD Players is - are replacement transport assemblies available? Sooner or later it will likely fail - Chris

Hi all...Looking for a SM for the ( Japan version ??) of the CD40. MKII?? …. not sure if this is the correct designation. Hi fi engine only has the regular CD40 which is somewhat different from the one I have. Photos attached is from the Net. The unit I have has a sticking tray. I have to use a thin blade to assist in it opening and when closing is needs a little help on the last bit of travel. Perhaps it may just need a new belt??
