Marantz Metal Woodgrain Case refreshing

Anyone have any tips on how to refresh the fake woodgrain metal case? Mine is in good condition but it appears dull.

The best looking refurb I have seen of the metal cases were the ones where they had the plastic stripped off and powder coated it satin black. They really looked beautiful. I have seen a couple of pics on this forum of that treatment. Here is a link to one of them.

You can wash it and put a light clear coat of lacquer on it, I would use some semi gloss.

Or, you can just buy a real wood cabinet for it...

As for the metal case under the wood, I used a citrus based cleaner to get the years worth of grime off it. It ended up looking pretty good.

Ah... then I would +1 on the nuvinyl or even armor all. They would shine things up short term.

303 aerospace protectant, I like the liquid better than the wipes.

I have had good luck with Howard Feed N Wax. Put a thin coat on it and let it set for a few minutes, then polish it dry. This has worked good for me in the past on vinyl.

I was thinking of trying that also since I use it all the time, maybe I'll try that first now lol.
