Relearning my trade
Managed to pick this up about a month ago. Dead when I got it. It has an STK pack as the preamp section but discrete components for the main. Rated at about 70w/ch.
You guessed it.....the STK pack had packed it in. Managed to get an equivalent and now its running.
DC offset is about 6mv, 5mv which is fine.
One small problem. The balance control is letting some of the right channel through (about half of normal) when the pot is paned all the way to the left. The other way is fine.
I haven't checked the Pot yet its not scratchy at all so I don't think its just cleaning. But I'll give it a spray when I pull it apart tomorrow anyway.
Just wondering what else besides pot cleaning and maybe resistance checking should I look for. And has anyone else had similar problems.
Also what do you guys think of the amp in general? Sounds fair to me but I haven't had a chance to listen to it much since I fixed it.
