Marantz SP-1000 -- Thoughts?

I might have a line on a pair of Marantz SP-1000's. Anyone have experience with them? Specs look good, but how do they sound? Can they effectively be driven by lower watts?

4" Midrange
3" Tweeter

Crossover: @ 1,000hz & 3,000hz
Frequency: 40hz - 20khz

I had a pair in this series, I can't remember the model number. Mine had the 12" woofers, they might have been SP-1200. Very average speaker, I think that was pretty much the opinion here when I asked about them.

I had the sp1200s. Not impressed. Boomy bass, thin midrange. I'd pass.

Guy on the local CL is asking $40 and purportedly is the original owner. The covers are very rough, but otherwise seem to be okay. I can get an average speaker any day of the week, and for less, so I'll skip on these. Thanks for the input.
