Martin Magnificats Coming to Life!

In the early 80's I had a pair of great speakers made by a company located in NJ. Eastman Sound it was called. As the years passed the speakers were given away. I always regretted it. I have come to find out that Michael Martin has taken over the company and is building hand made speakers just as his Dad did.
In fact the way I found out about it was a thread in Dollars and Sense that was about someone who located an old pair of "Cats"

Well I contacted him and he has been great. He is, as we speak, making a new pair of Magnificats for me. The communication has been great and Mike is a friendly guy. He has a website http://martinspeakersusa.com/

I am including pictures that he has sent me and welcome all comments.

I have a lot more if anyone is interested, I will post them also.

PS I just purchased an SX-5580 (maybe some saw it on Ebay) to go with these.

He is a very cool guy !! I have to sets of Martin's. Gamma Gold 3000, and Gamma Gold 2000. Had the 3000's since '82 (?)

Did you change the pics? I'm keeping a close eye on these, I have an original pair myself. I liked the overall sound, BUT IF there was a complaint I would say the mids/highs tend to be a little grainy. I'm thinking I could use the info for an upgrade, or rebuild!

When I first acquired mine, the only info was the emblem on the grill. I sent a picture to Martin Speakers, and Mike responded with the info. It's great to see him involved in a project like this!

Bobby A Mike just sent me some pics of them being made, I have a pair of tho original CATS . I have to agree with himm37 about being a little HOT on the top end, I recapped mine but made a mistake by putting a 6uf cap instead of a 16uf cap. easy enought to fix. I would like to upgrade the xover and tweeters if possible to calm them down just a bit. Yes please do keep us updated englissa

Support group getting together

Well my SX-5580 arrived today in PERFECT shape! I was torn between the SG-9800 or the SG-9500 and decided to use the 9500. I am awaiting a P-D70 cd player and am bidding on a CT-F1250. All this will be hooked up to the new Martins. Cant wait till Christmas
