Did you light up the Power Guard indicators? I've never been near doing that on anything since I was around 22 y/o I think.

Yeah, like that. Chacun à son goût though as they say.

That wouldn't bother me much. On the back where no one'll see it.
    Beautiful piece btw!

Agree. It happened just by grabbing the back of the amp while moving. Bummer!

Looks like decal vs screen paint the way letters moved. I would see if McIntosh can send one along with application instructions.

Negative. The chassis must be replaced.

McIntosh will replace the chassis under warranty but not any more.

it's not hard @ .005% distortion. I was running the meters into the 1000 watt region with my new Mc500 the other day.
The power guard lights gave a fleeting blink..
If I have my computer speakers turned up loud, they hurt my ears!

When I bought my 501's, the seller had just received them back from the factory where they got a complete re-screen and bench test. He said the letters had come off during a light cleaning and - being a very anal owner - he wanted it fixed. I guess it was free from what he said since he was the original owner. I think what happened (and how I came to own them) will surprise no one here.

He got impatient waiting for them to come back, bought something else and then didn't need them once they were returned. His loss...my gain :)
