MC60 Layout

Does anyone have information on the parts layout of the MC60? I just started to go through mine and document it before I rebuild, and realized that the schematic I have isn't the same as the actual circuit inside my amps. I plan on rebuilding them with the most recent MC60 schematic mcintosh published, but now realized I cannot use my amps as a guide to get there. If anyone has the layout of parts for the MC60 it would be greatly appreciated :)

Thanks!

Mark

Mark,

For sure take lots of pics and print them at least b&w 8.5 x 11 and id your components. Tag the wires on the transformers for sure.

Take the pics from different angles and make sure you've got good lighting so you can blow up the pic to see just where something goes, if need be. It's lots easier just to follow your pics and then confirm with the schematic. Been there, done that.

Em Terry? Maybe he's got some more versions of the schematics.

I have the Sams for MC60's. I will scan it tomorrow and email it to you if you
PM to me an email address I can send it to. :)

With MC60's you have monoblocks. Do one at a time. :)

Take some pictures of bottom and post them here, I can then ID the version and hunt you up the right schematic. The best shots would be each side of the component board.

Thank you everyone for the offers of help.

Here are pictures of my fugly mc-60's... :)

Looks like some "slight surface rust and a few scratches on the transformers and bottom cover on one." :D

Actually, the chassis on the other one doesn't look too bad. That selenium rectifier will have to go. I used 1N4007 on my 30s and replaced that resistor that's below it with 9.1k. Dunno what the value of the resistor would be on a 60.

Gonna make them look like mine? :)

Carl

One of my 2 pairs

Now why would I spend all this time to only make them look like that? ;)

I have a brand new pair of chrome chassis with perfect silkscreening sitting in front of me... :) I also have the McIntosh 60 logo's at a pot metal specialist being rechromed. I have the bottom plates and transformers at a paint shop being stripped and painted gloss black with car paint. Here is a picture of one of the new chassis. I didn't clean off my fingerprints, but I am using the same rivets throughout used on the original. Here you see the new sockets installed :D

Rivets look good, Mike. You're almost done. :D I was just thinking that it might be easier to solder up the wire to the 9 pin sockets before putting the board in but it probably makes little difference.

Whats the S/N? I have the instruction manual for 5F846 and above

Doug,
Thank you for the offer, that was the one I started with actually though. Carl was kind enough to send me the Sam's photofacts for my version, and what a wonderful thing it is.

You bet, glad to help the cause when possible. I have received plenty of help from my fellow addicts so whatever info I can pitch in with. Although I wish I actually had something you could use.

If all else fails give Mc a call, they'll have whatever you need.

Hello Mark,
I also have a pair of MC60's I am going to restore. Can you tell me what type of rivets you used on the sockets and filter capacitors? What tool installs them ect.? I have a pop rivet tool, but I don't think its the right way to go on this project.
Thanks for any info,
Jerry

I used tubular rivets, and a tubular rivet tool. I think 1/8" diameter, have to go home and check. Length all depends on size of chassis + part thickness you are joining. Got the tool at mcmaster carr, part number 6667A4.

Anyone find a component layout for the mc60?
I have the correct scematic for my unit, i also have the sams "layout"
However, the numbers c1 c2 ect on the sams layout does not seem to correspond to the orig. Schematic.
Ive attached a layout found here on the mc30 as illustration. Ive got amps that have had replacements, and want to verrify each cap is where its suppose to be but can not if the sams layout is incorrect when it points to a cap as C1, when in fact it is no c1 according to the mac schematic (value is off)
Yes, this is an old thread, sorry if it offends anyone to have inquired here. Not sure where or how to begin something new, or if my question is a rehash.
Wanting something thst points to each capacitor on the mc60 and names it as it corresponds directly to the schematic serial 4496 and up. Revised 4-20-56
