Congrats on your score, looks nice indeed.
As far as R-to-R decks go, I'd be inclined to go with a TEAC or Tascam unit, since parts may be easier and they're pretty rugged. Consumer 7 1/2 ips units are normally set up 1/4 track, recording on tracks 1-3 in one direction and 2-4 in the other. (Flip tape over a la cassette) There are also 1/2 track units available which only run in one direction, and normally at 15 ips (with 7 1/2 ips available as an option). These offer better fidelity and dynamic range but quadruple your effective tape costs. Blank tape for these has gotten somewhat scarce and expensive but I'm sure members here have a good source. I'd avoid auto-reverse since it involves some compromises. Reel to reel is a blast and sounds great though. Good luck!
