This is why we dont allow cats on equipment:

A 93 KR-V5550

when a cat gets warm and purrs, it can only do one thing: piss

oddly, this worked, nothing burned inside, no blown nuttin.

And since I had nothing better to do yesterday, a complete disassembly:

these machines are not bad audio-ically. they still had very clean 2 channel power (100w at .05%) with some surround capability, a decent phono section (but by now the RIAA was on a chip and no longer a passel of to92's)

and, its a BMC (black metal case)

I half toyed with not putting the video board back in, that will never be used ever again....

I feel your pain on the cat thing. I have 6 of the little furry evil spawns of Satan! I have to be very careful where I place electronics in the house. And for that matter where I allow the monsters access to within the house. I have one named Rover (He thinks he is a dog at times.) He gets on my xbox one when I'm out of the room. When I walk in on him, he just looks at me with that "What are you gonna do about it?" look.

Yep - I cleaned out a large Restek poweramp for an old fella - tons of cat hair all thru it, including behind the large illuminate front-panel VU's.

Cats also spew in amplifiers once they are nice and warm - trust me, I know.
