#1. MA-6500 integrated amp

#2. The gentleman stated he doesn’t have any speakers hooked up to the unit

#3. Without power the meters are completely to the left...

#4. With power the meters are pegged to the right...

Question:

With no load on the amp would that cause the meters to peg? Would no speakers harm the amp if on?

Thanks....

I told him to never power an amp up without a load on it... that is my guitar amp training for 50 years...

Take it in for service. A solid state amp isn't harmed by powering it up w/o a load. Might be something simple. Might be something involved. I wouldn't power it up again, until a Tech examines it.

Something isn't right with that one so a service is in order. Switching that amp on without speakers connected wouldn't cause any harm.

Tube amplifiers are the ones you have to be careful about powering on without a speaker load. There are some tube amps, that due to their design, will survive a no loaded power up. However, it's not something to test out. ;)
