Mislabeled 8080 on epay

Sorry to de-rail, but check out his other auctions - the Fisher speakers.

I've never seen a phonelic ring midrange like that. The speaker itself looks like an AR3 knock-off.

Cheers,
Russ

Here is a pic of my 8080Db

and compare yours to this guy's;

...... don't look the same.

That silver power button - that's a different style than those used on the 6060, 7070, 8080 etc. My power button (7070) looks just like yours.

Paul

ProAc_Fan:

It must be the 'DB' versions that used the silver button? All the others I've seen have those black buttons.

Any thoughts?

And what do you think that unit is?

Paul

I have a 9090 and the power buttom is the same as the other buttons. See the jumpers on back and the metal cage over the transistors - That is an 8080.

Its an 8080...NOT AN '8080DB' Dolby version (note that seller mentions it having a "dolby NR/ 4-ch adaptor" [sic] function)...

No doubt about it , its is a Sansui 8080 I have one right here in my basement next to my sansui G-7700. The 8080 does not have the dolby like the 8080db. The 8080 is a real nice receiver too boot.

OK, I guess that makes it an 8080.

I did check pictures on the Sansui sites and agree - I was just surprised that the 8080 and the 8080DB have such a different switch material from the 7070 and backwards.

I guess Sansui decided to dress up the 8080+ units of the series :D

Paul

I have often wondered why they would use a different power pushbutton on the 8080/9090 vs the 6060/7070/8080DB/9090DBs.

Here's a picture of my 8080. It has the grill over the power transistors. Serial number is 826090670.

Yup considering that Paul logged a sale of similar one at $1,041.00, I'd say this guy is not going to get any bids. Ought to change his ebay user handle to Greedo as his real name aint Mister Earl
LOL
