I have a fresh MX110Z coming to me. and looking to hook it up with a pair of Quicksilver KT88 mono's which Mike Sanders changed the input impedance 200K. good match?

If caddy is correct, that's only a 2:1 ratio. Not ideal. Caddy - could that possibly be 10kOhm?

It may well be Tony. O/M says the MX110 should be operated into loads of "100,000 ohm or greater" so the OP should have no difficulty.

Actual impedance is probably lower.

This brings up an issue that's been kind of bothering me. I think it was you 62, who pointed out the mismatch with my MX110 and MC7270. As much as I love the way they sound together, the thought they are not matched well kind of makes me wonder.. do I use the MX110 only with the MC30 tube amps and maybe use the C28 with the MC7270? I assume they match much better from an impendence standpoint.

Sorry for the highjacking Psycho.

Here are the McIntosh amplifiers the MX110 is compatible with according to McIntosh:

MC3500, MC350, MC2300, MC2105, MC2505, MC2100, MC250, MC100, MC50 - all 200K ohm which means up to two may be driven simultaneously by the MX110. (2 per channel for monoblocks)

MC2205, MC2200, MC2125, MC2120 - all 100K ohm which means the MX110 should only be connected to one at a time.

MC275 (original version), MC240, MC225, MC75 (original version), MC40 - all 250K ohm.

MC30, MC60 - 500K ohm.

According to the C28 owners manual: Main Output 2.5 volts with rated input, less than 100 ohms source impedance, to operate into 47,000 ohms or greater.

MC7270 input impedance of 20,000 ohm (unbalanced) would seem not to be compatible with the C28 either.

Wow.I almost picked up a 2205.What would be the most appropriate amp in your opinion? Thanks for the valuable info.

I love the way my mc250 looks and sounds. I am excited to eventually hear it with the mx110.

Amplifier selection should be based primarily upon the speakers, IMO. Other than that, I don't think you could go wrong with any of the above in all sincerity.

The MC2205 will work fine with the MX110.
