Anyone ever done this? I am thinking of getting a pair of tube monoblocks but don't want my young son to burn himself or break them...thinking of mounting them on the walls...

    Thoughts?

I've seen some pretty substantial monoblocks sitting on shelves.

Just make sure your shelving can handle the weight.

Best bet if you had the time and money would be to setup wall plates behind the blocks for the power and cabling and run as much of it through the walls as possible.

I gather they do not have cages for protection. Make sure you provide adequate ventilation above them.

Mine are elevated on floor stands.

It could be done easy enough with shelving brackets from hd. But should you not like them there you'll be stuck with the holes in your wall. I think a couple of tall stands, old speaker cabs or a hutch would be a better idea. He's also not going to be little forever......they grow up fast and learn quickly.

Interesting... Ive googled about 10 variations of “amplifiers mounted on wall” and couldnt get 1 picture for an idea. Heck, untill I started reading this blog i didnt understand why amps were mostly on the floor. Ventilation and weight. I think higher up a rack is better. Like above post, kids grow. Holes in the wall is a big commitment.

Your best bet for inspiration would be to skim through old hi fidelity mags. Every so often you find one that's really just dedicated to listening spaces. Other option would be to have a tv stand/credenza that's properly ventilated (either by default or modified with cooling fans) with doors that can be secured.

Not necessarily, depending on the construction a bit of spackling and paint can make it like new.

    Mount them in the fireplace.

Mount the fire extinguisher on the wall. ;)
