Why would you think that? Montgomery Ward was one of the biggest retailers in the country for years. Just because it's old doesn't mean it's "rare" and your right, not everything rare is valuable.
They sold a few high end radios in the late thirties that are very collectable but most of their stuff after that was low to mid range at best. Nearly all their electronics, until the seventies, was sold under the Airline brand name. Later stuff did carry the MW name.
I'm still wishing I knew what a Monkey Ward 450 *is*. It would be helpful if the posters of these threads would say 'radio', 'amp', 'vacuum cleaner' etc. Most of us do not have a catalogue of model numbers in our heads.

Found a couple of threads but not much to go on. I don't get the impression that this was a fabulous deal on a really great piece of equipment. Might have been fine, but I don't think you missed out on the Holy Grail.
*EDIT:WTH? This IS THE exact unit I was looking at! Of course I must advise there is no affiliation with the above auction. Mind... Blown, and auction watched...
So it looks like the guy who bought this is still stuck with it.
What would a reasonable offer be to take it off his hands? Or is it even worth taking it off his hands? I am looking for an offer in the range that would take advantage of the situation, but not completely rob the individual blind.
