As a follow up to my previous post of MR 235 of 2225 which one should I keep.... (Most likely it will be the 2225)
What is the story behind the MR series?
Was the MR series a Phillips design in Marantz cloathing or was it a Marantz Design with Phillips era face plate?
When did Philips take over Marantz anyway?
How do vintage Marantz fans feel about the MR series? (Cool? Crap? What the hell is an MR Series?)
I have both the MR 235 and the 2225 (awaiting a new lamp kit) right now. I fixed up the MR 235 and set it up in place of my Yamaha 1020....let me tell you...I think I like the 235 better than the 1020. The clarity and depth blew me away. I was watching a YouTube video of Chris Squire doing a bass solo and I could almost feel the notes (emphasis on a crappy compressed audio quality youtube video and it still sounds awsome.).:thmbsp: Either my 1020 needs a little work...or I have been missing out on something..(yes the 1020 needs to be serviced but I have not gotten around to it.) I can't wait to fix up the 2225 and see what it has to offer.
