So I was listening to WYCE tonight, and Kurt played a tune by an artist whose voice I didn't immediately recognize. As I listened closely to try to figure it out, I got a really good listen to the lyrics, which were really, (really) good. It was called 'Hopeful' and sounded very like something Steve Forbert might have written, but it was definitely not him.

Track listings are posted on the website, so I surfed on over to solve the mystery. Turns out it was Josh Ritter, from 'The Beast in Its Tracks'. He is someone I like pretty well and have played on the air. 'Another New World' from 'So Runs the World Away' comes to mind as one song.

Anyway, I'm sure some of you find yourselves closely analyzing aspect/s of pieces of music, whether musical or lyrical, from time to time- maybe all the time. Anyone had an interesting surprise or light bulb go off lately?
