My 1970's Man Cave setup

When I started collecting 70's gear a few years ago , I didn't have anywhere to put . So I converted a garage room into my perfect adolescent bedroom I never had growing up. This is all gear I've picked up locally and I've vetted out a lot - these are the keepers so far. Since I think the speakers are the weak link in a system- all these speakers have been resealed and recapped.

Receivers/AMPS - Pioneer SX-1050, Kenwood KA 907, Kenwood KR-7050, Realistic STA-2000D

TT - Thorens 145 with At440MLa Cart, Technics SL-3350 w/ Shure Realistic cart.

Speakers - KLH model 5, KLH model 6, Realistic Optimus one, Bozak DMS-4500

CD players - PlayStation SPCH 1001, Magnavox CDB 502 and 482, NEC 530

Total out of pocket over the last 3 years - $1175. Almost half of that is the 1050 and 907.

A 70's system

A few obvious dumb comments. The CD players must be from the future and you need a lava lamp to go with that nice collection

Welcome to the 70's club!

Here is my 70's stuff, most of which was bought new in the 70's
Phase Linear 400 power amp (1972)
Soundcraftsmen RP2215R. EQ (1977)
TEAC AN-300 Dolby NR. (1978)
TEAC A-1230 RTR deck. (1972)
Akai GX-370D RTR deck (1973)
ReVox A77mk4. RTR deck (1978)
ReVox B77. RTR deck (1979)
Russound (2) TMS-10 tape deck/processor selector (1977)
Russound (2) TMS-2 tape deck selector. (1977)

Nice. :thmbsp: But if you want to be serious about the 70's you'll have to incorporate some concrete blocks into the gear rack.

I recently got a Harman Kardon 730 in great shape and some KLH 17 speakers which will arrive next week. Can't wait to listen!

A lava lamp and pet rock. Such a tacky decade, wasn't it? All except the audio gear, the high water mark of solid state hifi in my view.

The 17s' are a special little speak that was meant for tight spaces and still be up for competing with the AR "feel"

KLH's work there is good and hope you enjoy.
