My attempt at a SX-680 recap list

Watch out for C309, C310. The list shows the correct part and value (22uf/6v), but the schematic showa 220uf/6v

dammit!!!!!!!!!

The NEXT list that ain't been CHECKED against the SCHEMATIC, will be IGNORED BY ME!!!!!!!!

OK, they're fixed too.

Hi Strabo, I thought you did a great job. I know that it is very time consuming, and there are errors on the schematics, and the schematics that I have are very hard to read. Thanks for your effort. Bill

Apologies on this end Mark, chalk it up to a stupid newbie.

Sorry
Holiday stress.... I don't wanna discourage anybody...
(he says as he extracts foot from mouth)

gotta blame myself, several times I suppressed the urge to check against the schematic.

No need to apologize on Christmas Mark. And I've been in IT for 3 decades, so as you might guess I've got a mile of thick skin.

Appreciate all of the help from everyone so far. I plan on combining my programming/database skills into creating some sort of method to track all of this stuff going forward so I can be thorough.

Hi guys,
I too am working on a SX-680 I just got. I wanted to do a recap and this list is awesome. I see a couple of duplicates so is that a polarized vs. bipolar type?

My receiver has a dead channel and I swapped the STK0039's and the sound switched with it so I am replacing it. I figured I'd do a recap while I'm in there. Any suggestions on the main filter caps? I was thinking 8,200uf at 50volts.

thanks!

I am also in the IT biz since the 80's :) - but don't hold that against me.

You are going to have to be more specific on this "duplicates" issue. This is a one component per location list, so:
GWM-118 C150 0.47 50 CEA R47P 50 598-DSF050J474
GWM-118 C151 0.47 50 CEA R47P 50 598-DSF050J474

so there are at LEAST two 598-DSF050J474 caps used in the unit - one at c150's location and one at c151's location.

while
GWM-118 C125 47 16 CEA 470P 16 647-UPW1C470MDD
GWM-118 C205 47 25 CEANL 470P 25 647-UKL1E470KEDANA
while these
647-UPW1C470MDD
647-UKL1E470KEDANA
are standard and low electronic leakage versions of that parts value (the fact the voltages are different means that I didn't take time to find an identical voltage example)

I have just got my hands on an SX-690 which i believe is the black faced SX-680. Using Mark's excellent cap list i have got an order waiting to go with Mouser, however one of the caps is currently back ordered with a long lead time, could anyone suggest a replacement part please?

GWM-118 C301 0.47 50 CEANL R47M 50 598-DSF050J474

Also, does anyone have suggestions for the main filter caps as the options on Mouser seem to be slim.

598-DSF050J474 currently checks out at mouser with 796 in stock....

but, just in case...

667-ECQ-V1H474JL has stock of 37,000....

Bizzare, i could have sworn it was out of stock when i checked yesterday morning. Thanks for your excellent work of compiling the list Mark.

Also thanks Larry for the suggestions.

Ah it was:

50 1 50 2 C138,C141 598-DSF050J105

That was listed as OOS with a 16 week delivery time, any suggestions as i have the rest in my shopping cart and ready to checkout!

Mouser should have the ECQ Panasonics for the 1uf 50V film caps. I bought 25 of them about two months ago. Sorry, don't have the part number handy.

Is it possible to recap the unit without removing the whole board from the chassis? I ask as this will be recapped inbetween looking after my 2 year and 4 week old daughters!

Hello everyone.
I've a Pioneer SX-680 to repair and I'm compiling a list of material which includes both STK0039 and the the list of capacitors (thanks for compiling it). I've been checking the availability of each item in the list (Mouser.com) and I found two that are marked as obsolete - Not available

598-DSF050J474 -> CEANL R47M; 50; 0,47; 50; 2; C301, C302
598-DSF050J105 -> CEANL 010M; 50; 1; 50; 2; C138, C141

Also not available the mentioned replacements:
667-ECQ-V1H474JL - .47uF 50V 5%
667-ECQ-V1H105JL - 1uF 50V 5%

Could someone help me here. Which capacitors should I use instead?

Thanks.

You can switch to Panasonic ECQ-E caps which have the same lead spacing as CDE parts (5mm), but have slightly longer body (12.3/15.3 vs 7.3/7.3mm) 0.47/1.0uF. These are not stacked capacitors, but are metallized polyester film capacitor
0.47uF/250Vdc ECQ-E2474KB3
1.0 uF/250Vdc ECQ-E2105JBB

Since SX-680 is not very sonicly demanding you can go with WIMA MKS2 series - which also has 5mm lead spacing and should sound fine in SX-680.

0.47uF/63V 505-MKS2C034701CJSSD
1.0uF/50V 505-MKS2B041001C00KS
