Saw it on ebay and won it. It looks a lot like the first CD player I ever owned. Paid about $400 for it in 1985. It died around 1990, I think its controller chip died. I gutted it and "junk box"ed the various parts. Well, it turns out the one off ebay didn't work, and I swapped out the transport mechanism and replaced it with the one that came from my first machine. Then after finding the bad belt that positions the laser head, it works well. So in a sense I have my first machine again... Different DAC chip though, my old machine had a PCM53V, but this ebay machine uses a Yamaha YM4006 DAC chip. The front panel proclaims: "Original Music Processing LSIs", "Double Resolution Digital Filter" and "Natural Sound Compact Disc Player". I haven't been able to find any info on the YM4006 DAC chip.

mg196, don't know, but my machine says "Manufactured March 1985". If your machine has such a date marked, that should determine if it was before or after.
Mine is the "CD-X2" model.
