Well, I found this bad boy in the trash back home in '07. I brought it home, and realized the main power cord was cut from the stereo. I quickly twisted with electrical tape attached a Vacuums power cable. It Worked! As 'ghetto' as that might have been. (I was young). :D

Well, Here it is 4 years later, and I am stationed in South korea. I just bought my new kenwood, which is another story. :smoke: Well I decided, This Fisher is +-50 years old. And she still plays like a beauty. So, here I am giving her a well deserved bath. THIS IS MY FIRST CLEANING/RESTORATION ever performed, thats why it is a semi cleaning.

Well, I know I enjoy looking over others restorations. I am 20, and work in the army so I dont have much time to do this. But here is my Cleaning, Enjoy and any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!!

Here she is.

Before cleaning, sound would crackle when adjusting volume, and only 1 of the 4 channels worked. Now all channels play crisply, crackling is gone with volume adjusting, and I am very happy. She is now hooked up to some sony bookshelf speakers for display mostly, while I use my Kenwood KR-V6070 with 2x ISP-5000's

It is a solid state reciever. I have to be to work, so I haven't updated it any further yet. I disassembled it as far as I am comfortable with. As stated this is the first time I have ever cleaned a stereo so I do not want to go to deep into it before feeling comfortable with sodering, and reading the schematics.

Pete, this is the first time i've tried anything like thjis. I dissassembled it as far as i felt comfortable with. I used a small brush to clean off most of the dust and then where possible used the toothbrush with water to clean. dried with hair dryer. I took a rag, and wiped the metal frame down, but parts were discolored and i dont know how to fix that yet. I used some acetone on q-tips to clean off the solder.
Then, now I am in the process of re-wiring it.

nice job ..i may do similar when i get around to restoring my favourite amp its a pioneer sa-8800 ..i blew it up setting it up to factory settings nearly fixed it but needs more work yet
