I've never been much of a headphone listener, but I wanted something for travel and sometimes the office, so I bought a pair of these: https://en-us.sennheiser.com/wireless-headphones-bluetooth-noise-cancelling-hd-4-50-btnc

So far, I'm very pleased with both the sound quality and the effectiveness of the noise canceling. I've used them for about 5 hours in my office, where they seem to complete cancel the HVAC background noise and most other extraneous noise. I don't have any high-end headphones for comparison, but they sound better to me than any earbuds I've used, and certainly good enough for travel and the office. Very nice first experience with BT and noise canceling.

After more experience with these, I continue to be impressed. On airplanes, they don't quite eliminate all of the background noise, but they reduce it dramatically. In my office at work, they completely suppress the HVAC noise. I still find the sound quality quite good - in fact, better than any headphones I've owned myself, though I've heard some substantially more expensive headphones that sound better.
