My LINN BASIK LV X tone arm has a little play in it.

Is that normal?

If I hold the arm an gently turn it to the left or to the right (on it's axis), there is a little play where the arm is connected arm board (where it goes side to side), there maybe even a little in the up down part too. Is this adjustable or is a bit of play normal.

Regards,
Chuck

Did it have play before? Usually, a fixed pivot arms shouldn't have play, however.....

Place it on an lp with the motor off and look at it from the front. If the arm isn't leaning to the side, it's fine. Generally, with the cart hanging below the arm tube any arm will have negative balance.

Keep in mind unipivots tend to flop about a bit, but play just fine.

By your accompanying photo are you referring to the where tonearm's base secures to the turntable arm board? Is it properly secured and tightened? Either the base moved changing the tonearms position or it wasn't properly mounted by looking at the gap in the arm board's cutout. Did you verify if the spindle to tonearm base distance is correct and then I'd tighten it down securely?
