I was looking for an affordable PT for my Bell Pacemaker amp and I was getting kind of discouraged because they were so expensive used, then I remembered that I had two custom built James Audio 6V6 full power stereo PP Amplifier's stashed away in my closet from when I was in a oldies band, the band fell apart and I put them into a big suitcase and put them away in the closet and basically forgot about them !. I hooked the chrome one up and it sounds great !
Looks like he used a Fender tweed chassis with a Weber W022798 PT and two Hammond output transformers. Preamp tubes are 1959 GE 12AU7 long grey plates. All the tubes are vintage. The Weber PT has very good spec's . What I was wondering is if a 5R4 would be an improvement over the 5U4 rectifier tube. I have a few 5R4's just laying around. I want to keep it all vintage tubes and I'm not interested in paying 50 or 100 dollars for a mullad 5AR4. IMG_20170116_201500324.jpg
